Senior/Lead Database Administrator
Job Description: The Senior/Lead Database Administrator plays a crucial role in our team, responsible for provisioning, deploying, and ensuring the secure day-to-day operations and maintenance of our diverse database services, both on-premises and in the cloud. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain the organization’s database systems, ensuring optimal performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Lead database architecture planning and design efforts, including capacity planning, data modeling, and database schema optimization.
- Develop and implement database security policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data and comply with regulatory requirements.
- Perform database performance tuning and optimization activities to enhance system efficiency and responsiveness.
- Manage database backups, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions to minimize downtime and data loss.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts to diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including performance bottlenecks, data corruption, and system failures.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support database-related projects and initiatives, providing technical expertise and guidance as needed.
- Mentor and provide guidance to database administrators, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Stay up to date with emerging database technologies, trends, and best practices, and evaluate their potential impact on the organization’s database environment.
- Define and enforce database standards, policies, and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
KSAOs that You Will Require to Succeed in this Role
- Strong experience with MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MS SQL.
- Strong knowledge of security access controls for databases and tracking unauthorized changes.
- Expertise in SQL optimization and data modeling.
- In-depth understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery concepts (e.g., Replication, Clustering, DC-DR).
- Experience with proactive database monitoring tools (e.g., Enterprise Monitor, Workbench, PMM).
- Hands-on experience using backup tools like MySQL Enterprise Backup, RMAN.
- Proficiency in administering databases in Linux environments (e.g., CentOS, RedHat Linux).
- Familiarity with Cloud and Virtualization technologies (e.g., VMWare, AWS, GCP).
- Strong knowledge of security protocols and internationally recognized security benchmarks (e.g., CIS).
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to handle customer issues under time constraints.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong command of the English language.
Education and Experience Requirements
- BSC / MSC in CSE from a reputed university.

Minimum 4-5 years of experience in Database Administration in large environments.
